THE GREAT SOUTHERN BREVET 2018
8 days of off-road cycle touring in the South Island of New Zealand from the 20th to the 28th of January 2018

2016 will see the same mix of tracks and back country roads as the past Great Southern Brevets, and of course 90% will be off the black stuff and away from the crowds! The course starts and finishes in Tekapo and is run counter-clockwise.

A 1100 km bicycle brevet around the South Island of New Zealand. Taking in the iconic Mackenzie High Country, the Lakes, and through to Central Otago and Southland and back again to the High Country.
You will start and finish in the scenic setting of Tekapo. The course is designed to be as much as possible off road and takes in high passes in the beautiful but rugged central South Island ranges. It will follow many historic tracks and will be a physically challenging and rewarding adventure.

For the purposes of this website, an ultra event is defined as an event that is 200 miles or longer or takes the average competitor 12 hours or more to complete. Winter events in the months of December, January, February and March must be 100 miles or longer or take the average competitor 6 hours or more to complete.
